A Long (and LAME) Winter

This winter, like last summer, has been weird and abnormal for us. We are used to tons of snow, skiing, snowshoeing, days on the resorts, cozy nights with blankets, movie and treats, and lots of date nights. Things have changed for sure.

This winter has had a seriously huge lack of snow. Sure, it's been really cloudy and rainy here and there, but we crave the snow. Justin and I are friends with winter. We love playing in it. But this year... nothing. So instead, I take the baby hiking on the muddy trails. If there is a little snow we take the dogs.

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to get a few inches so we put Richie in the backpack and Justin skinned up while I carried my board and hiked up Porter Fork. Then we skied/boarded down with the dogs.

We can't do date nights as much as we used to because of the cute little ball and chain we now live with. So instead we stare at this face while Justin does homework and I try and catch up on the piles of dishes and laundry.

We hang out while I watch Avatar/Downton Abbey/Community/Modern Family/Parks and Rec. Sometimes we all go out to eat together. Justin usually stares at his phone while I stare at Richie. It's a little dysfunctional, but what family isn't?

At Church Justin uses Richie as an excuse to miss Gospel Doctrine. He hangs out and does this... or holds him while he naps.

After Christmas Richie started pulling himself up. I managed to catch my first time seeing it on film.

Sometimes we play with the dogs. Koda is such a tolerant big brother. And such a good singer. Or we will play a few short husky talking videos for Richie. He finds them hilarious. I find them cliche.

We got to go to Marley's first birthday party and help destroy a cake and take a community bath. I think Richie will love these pictures when he is a teenager.

A month ago we trekked all the way to Honeyville Utah to soak in the Crystal Hot Springs. My girlfriend and co-worker, Carrie King, practices Watsu (google it, it's amazing). She worked her magic on little Richie and miraculously he started sleeping mostly through the night! Thanks Carrie! I love you and Richie REALLY loves you.

To end on a funny note... A few weeks back I got a random text asking if I was Karridy. I messed around with the texter for a while. I thought it was probably just some teenager so we went back and forth for a few hours. Eventually it turned into flirting. So I ended it (with Justin's help) with this. Please don't text this person now that I'm publishing their number. I wish you could see the full picture of Justin lifting his shirt up to show his chest with the caption, "Like what you see?" We thought we were pretty hilarious. (But then again, we don't get out much...)
